to highlight from our prospective the various Oregon scenic drives; you
will remain as the driver as you choose your destinations, dates and plan
out what to see and do during your Oregon scenic drive.
For purposes of this site; we are assuming that your starting point is on the western side of the mountains and will be writing the content of this site with this assumption at hand. If you're starting point differs, just adjust the times and distances accordingly to your preferred starting point. Oregon has attracted travelers for many years as one of the most desired states to visit and explore.
Certain areas top most peoples list for the most Scenic Drive in Oregon. One of those areas that is surely to be on their list would be Highway 101, The Oregon Coast. To visit Oregon and not take in the Oregon Coast would be like visiting Wyoming and not seeing Yellowstone.
Another drive that tops most lists winds its way up the side of the mountains out of Portland to the majestic Mount Hood, the tallest mountain in Oregon - 11,240 feet at the peak. Mt. Hood can be seen for hundreds of miles in any direction and once your high atop its grandeur presence is rather overwhelming.
The legendary Columbia River Highway and the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon will please even the most discriminating of travelers. At approximately 75 miles in length, the Columbia River Highway is a popular trip for picnics and sightseeing out of Troutdale OR. On this drive you will experience the transition from the coastal forests of western Oregon to the eastern plains near The Dalles during this great day trip in northern Oregon.
Day Trips out of Portland Oregon.
One of the all time favorite day trips out of Portland is to the seaside town of Astoria Oregon. This easy drive spans just 95 miles each way via the East Columbia River Highway #30 making this a really great trip for any shortened day.
